前不久，记者来到华盛顿著名的史密桑尼博物院所设的书店，找遍中国文学书架，只看到一套美国企鹅出版社出版的英文版《红楼雹型梦》(该版本采用《石头记》作书名)。书店职员告诉我，根据电脑记录，书店以前曾进过《三国演义》，《水浒传》和《西游记》，但是不知为何书卖完后就没有再续。由于只有为数很少的专业书店有英译本中国四大名著出售，一些读者只能从网上订购。
